Aamir Khan urged to share his sympathies with Kutch quake victims
Bhuj (Gujarat), May 28 (UNI) Kutch MP, Pushpdaan Gadhvi has appealed the cine star Aamir Khan to share his sympathies with earthquake victims of Kutch where he had filmed his Oscar nominated movie 'Lagaan'.
Reacting to Mr Khan's sympathies to Narmada oustees, Mr Gadhvi in a statement here today said, the cine star had entirely shot his Lagaan at Kunaria village near here, and he had camped with his film unit for seven months in Bhuj town.
The four-storyed 'Shahajanand Towers', in which Mr Khan had hired 25 flats for his film unit with other residents, had collapsed in the earthquake and 37 residents were killed.
Mr Gadhvi said, after the earthquake, people of entire country had contributed to the affected people, but, Mr Khan did not spare a single paisa for the quake victims nor visited them to show his sympathies.
When NBA leader Medha Patkar went on hunger strike in New Delhi last month to stop Narmada dam's construction, Mr Khan had supported her and appealed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to take everybody into confidence with a view to reach Narmada waters to the dry Kutch region.
In a small Kunaria village, where 'Lagaan' was shot and nearly 40 people were killed and number of houses were collapsed, villagers had high hopes like other NGOs Mr Khan will adopt their village but were disappointed.
Before showing sympathies for Narmada affected people for mere publicity of his films, the hero should provide sympathies to the people of Kutch, Mr Gadhvi added.
