Two die of sun stroke in Purulia; cloudy in Kolkata
Kolkata, May 27 (UNI) Two villagers died of sun-stroke at Balarampur and Bagmundi in Purulia district with the mercury touching almost 44 degree Celsius during the past 36 hours.
It touched 44.1 degree Celsius today, the highest this summer. A Met offical said, ''The scorching heat will continue in the district for the next 48 hours''.
Taking off from yesterday, Kolkata experienced pleasant weather conditions for two days in a row.
After days of scorching heat, there was a cloud cover in the city from the morning. Later, during the afternoon there was a slight drizzle in a few places.
After the city received 8.6 mm rainfall yesterday, Met office sources informed that the minimum temperature was 26.9 degree Celsius compared to 27 degree Celsius the previous day.
The Mercury has been hovering over the 35 degree Celsius mark for the last couple of weeks.
