Karnataka to set up 270 Trauma Care Centres
Bangalore, May 27 (UNI) The Karnataka State proposes to set up 270 Trauma Care Centres through out the State to provide immediate medical care to the accident victims, Minister for Health R Ashok said today.
Speaking after inaugurating Trauma Care Services set up jointly by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Comprehensive Trauma Consortium (CTC), an NGO on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway at Ramnagara, 65 km from here, he said that a Blue Print for the project has already been prepared and it will be implemented soon.
He said that funds for the fully fledged Trauma Centres will be raised from the Union Government, World Bank besides State contribution.
Referring to shortage of drugs in Government Hospital, Mr Ashok said that the Health Department has drawn plans to overcome drug shortage. Rs 70 Crore has been set aside in the Budget for purchase of drugs.
He said 500 Doctors will be recruited shortly to fill the vacant posts and employees gone on deputation from Health Department will be called back to meet the shortage of staff in the department.
Trauma Care Services inaugurated today was first of its kind in the State. The CTC has set up two Trauma Care centres in Ramnagara and Mandya on Bangalore-Mysore highway.
