Judicial custody of Mukhtar, MP sibling extended in MLA murder case

Ghazipur, UP, May 27 (UNI) The judicial custody of controversial MLA Mukhtar Ansari, his MP sibling Afzal Ansari and their brother-in-law Aijaz Ansari has been extended by another 13 days in BJP MLA Krishnand Rai murder case.

The acccused were produced before chief judicial magisrate Pramod Kumar who extended their judicial custody. The court also provided them with a copy of prosecution documents they had earlier demanded.

The three have been asked to be present before the sessions court, Ghazipur on June 8.

On November 29, 2005 BJP legislator Krishnand Rai along with seven other supporters were shot dead in Bhawarkola area of the district. The slain MLA's family had charged Independent MLA Mukhar Ansari with killing Rai. Mukhtar had later surrendered before a local court.

Besides the three, Munna Bajrangi, Ata-ur-Rehman and Firdaus are the others named in the FIR. Firdaus was recently gunned down by the Mumbai Police in an encounter in the Maharashtra capital.
