Chennai, May 27 (UNI) AIADMK leader Jayalalitha came face to face with Chief Minister M Karunanidhi after a long gap today when she came to the Tamil Nadu Assembly to represent her party in the absence of its 60 other MLAs, who were suspended yesterday.

Status Quo remained as far as the suspension was concerned as the Business Advisory Council (BAC) meeting convened to discuss the issue postponed the decision to Monday.

Ms Jayalalitha decided to dispense with her decision of staying away from the Assembly after chaos and pandemonium in the House yesterday, in which AIADMK members allegedly disrupted the proceedings and one of them rushed towards Mr Karunanidhi, prompting Speaker A Avudiappan to order their eviction evicted. They were later suspended on a resolution moved by Leader of the House K Anbazhagan.

After Mr Karunanidhi requested that the suspension decision could be revoked by the BAC if the AIADMK members apologised, the Committee, comprising of all parties, met this morning in the Speaker's chamber.

MDMK leader M Kannappan briefed Ms Jayalalithaa on the outcome of the meeting, before the former Chief Minister took her seat diagonally across her current counterpart.

The House wore a deserted look in the absence of the AIADMK MLAs.
