INTUC demands Centre to ratify ILO resolution on child labour
Mangalore, May 27 (UNI) Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) M N Adyanthaya has criticised the Union Government for failing to ratify in Parliament the resolution passed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on worst form of child labour.
Addressing the press conference here yesterday, Mr Adyanthaya, who would be leaving for Geneva tomorrow to attend the 95th ILO conference to be held from May 30 to June 16, said ''It is a shame on the part of India for not having brought in a legislation on the ILO's 182nd resolution on worst form of child labour and 138th resolution on minimum wage, when 80 per cent of the member states of ILO have already ratified these and brought in suitable laws.'' He said the trade union leaders had taken up the issue during a recent meeting with the Union Labour Minister.
Mr Adyanthaya said the four main issues to be taken up for discussion at the ILO conference were promotional framework for occupational safety and health-second discussion for standard setting, employment relationship-single standard setting first discussion, technology cooperation and application of convention.
he added.
