Girls outscore boys, Chennai on top in class X results

New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) After outperforming boys in the class XII exams, girls have, once again, scored better than boys in the CBSE class X exams.

Girls did marginally better than the boys in the class X exams held by the CBSE, the results for which were announced here today.

Girls have a pass percentage of 77.7, slightly more than that of the boys at 76.77.

There is an increase of 2.56 per cent in the overall pass percentage, from 74.6 last year to 77.16 this year, CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly told reporters here.

Among the different regions, Chennai again emerged on top with 89.44 pass percentage followed by Ajmer (88.24 per cent), Chandigarh with 82.4 per cent, Allahabad (80.17 per cent) followed by Delhi (68.11 per cent) and Guwahati 49.1 per cent.

Navodaya Vidyalayas had the hightest pass percentage of 91.1 per cent followed by Kendriya Vidayalas with 90.63 per cent, independent private schools with 85.94 per cent followed by the government schools with 54.01 per cent.

Students, who appeared from 106 schools in foreign centres, had a pass percentge of 93.6 per cent.

Of this, students appearing from Gulf countries had a pass percentage of 94.2 per cent.

This year also saw a significant rise in the number of meritorious students with 21,002 students securing more than 90 per cent marks while 1617 students got more than 95 per cent.
