VIRGINIA WATER, England, May 26 (Reuters) Frenchman Adrien Mork achieved a unique feat today, carding the first official 59 in the history of the European, Challenge and Senior tours.

The 26-year-old Mork posted his 12-under-par score despite recording a double bogey in the second round of the Moroccan Classic Challenge Tour event at the Golf du Soleil in Agadir.

Mork, who had a 20-under total of 122 for 36 holes, began his round at the 10th and charged to the turn in 29 with six birdies.

He double-bogeyed the par-four second before ending his round in remarkable style with six more birdies and an eagle.

''It feels like a dream to have done this,'' Mork said in a news release. ''I honestly cannot describe the way I feel because I do not think I fully realise what I have done yet.

''This is the best I have ever played and it is an honour to break so many records for European golf.'' The Challenge Tour is a breeding ground for the next generation of European Tour players.

The magical 59 has only been achieved three times in U.S. PGA Tour history, by Al Geiberger in the 1977 Memphis Classic, Chip Beck at the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational and David Duval at the 1999 Bob Hope Classic.
