Court sentences two to 5-year RI for possessing explosive substances
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) A city court today sentenced two people to five-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) in connection with a mission to blow up the US embassy in the capital four years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) S N Gupta held Abdul Rauf Hawass and Mohd. Shamim Sarwar guilty of possessing explosive substances and sentenced each to 5-year imprisonment.
The court further slapped a fine of Rs 15000 each on both.
They were convicted under sections 25 and 29 of Explosive Substances Act for carrying six kg of RDX under suspicious circumstances.
Two others, Seikh Abaas Hussain and Mohd Arsad Khan, were let off for lack of evidence against them, according to the prosecution.
