Best ever Class X result in entire decade of Govt schools: Lovely

New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) A changed approach towards academics in the Delhi Government-run schools has resulted in these schools securing the highest ever pass percentage of 59.73 in the CBSE Class X Board exams, Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely today said.

Infact, the pass percentage this year among Delhi Government schools is an increase of 11.7, more than the combined increase in pass percentage over the last six years.

''This is the best ever result in the entire decade of Government schools. This is 4.57 times the overall average increase in pass percentage of 2.56 recorded by CBSE this year,''Mr Lovely said.

Stating that it was all due to the efforts of the school teachers and officials of the education department, the Education minister said,''the government has proved that despite all systemic constraints, our officers, heads of school and teachers can take up any challenge.'' ''The rise in pass percentage of government schools this year is more than the total percentage increase in results over the last six years combined together,''he said.

''What makes it more creditable is the fact that this increase in result has come with a growth of 12.3 per cent in the number of students appearing in class X from government schools. This year, the highest number of students ever, in the history of the directorate. 96003, appeared for class X,''Mr Lovely said.

The improvement in class X results follows the highest ever result of class XII for the Government schools at 78.05 per cent with a six per cent increase in the number of students appearing.

Also notable is the fact that the pass percentage of government school students in Delhi is the highest among those in other regions like Ajmer, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Chennai and Allahabad.

This year, the number of Government schools students appearing in Delhi for the class X board exams has increased by 16,287.
