Mani Shankar Aiyar to review Panchayat Raj in HP

New Delhi, May 27: Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar will review the progress in Panchayati Raj Institutions during his four-day visit to Himachal Pradesh beginning today.

During the visit, Mr Aiyar will interact with Panchayats and carry out a review with the authorities concerned of the progress in implementing the points for action mutually agreed upon in the Seven Round Tables of State Ministers incharge of Panchayati Raj, between July and December 2004.

According to an official release, Mr Aiyar will interact with Gram Sabhas/Panchayat Samitis, Zila Parishads in Kulu.

On May 29, Mr Aiyar will meet state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh when both the leaders will sign a statement highlighting the key points of actions on which the State would move to operationalise the recommendations of the Round Tables.
