World Bank report on reforming public services
Kolkata, May 26 (UNI) Greater political concensus on social development programmes, stability of tenure of officials carrying on reforms work and monitering can reform public service in India, a new World Bank report said.
The report, prepared by a team, led by World Bank's senior public sector management specialist Dr Vikram K Chand, examined 25 success stories in the country across a range of sectors including health, education, information technology and urban management.
The report found that if the subsidies were designed properly and administered efficiently then it can work 'miracles', Dr Chand said.
In regard to dealing with employees, the report found that accommodating potential spoilers, guaranteeing no job losses and improving working conditions helped in reforms.
