Witch hunt leaves a woman dead in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, May 26 (UNI) In a brutal incident a 45-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death by a quack at tribal Kukdu village under Patamda police station area in East Singhbum district yestereday.

Police today said quack Ragam Murmu, known as sorcerer, hit Sukhda Singh repeatedly with heavy iron rod on the pretext of her being a witch. The woman died on the spot.

The villagers then nabbed the killer and beat him severely before handing him over to the police.

The body was sent for post-mortem, police said.
