VHP calls for banning tourism, boycotting Kashmiri goods
Ahmedabad, May 26 (UNI) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international general secretary Pravin Togadia today called for a ban on tourism and boycott of all Kashmiri goods alleging ''grants to the insurgency-hit state were being used by Jehadis''.
Criticising the killing of innocent tourists from Gujarat yesterday in a grenade blast, Dr Togadia, in a statement here said, the boycott was the most effective answer to the insurgents as it will leave devoid them of the local support.
''It is high time, we boycott Kashmiri goods like carpets, apples, shawls, saffron and handicrafts. Boycotting the local goods is the most peaceful answer at this moment, because Jehadis cannot live in Kashmir without local support,'' he said.
He also called for peaceful protests against the massacre of Hindus in Srinagar and Doda.
Meanwhile, VHP activists staged a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Income-Tax crossing here this evening in protest against the yesterday's incident.
