Sania handed tough draw, faces Myskina in French Open Round 1
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Sania Mirza was handed a tough draw in the second Grand Slam of the year and the Hyderabadi teenager will kick off her French Open campaign with an encounter with 2004 winner and 10th seed Anastasia Myskina.
Plagued by a spate of injuries, Sania returned to court in the Istanbul Cup but the world number 38, seeded fifth in the 200,000 dollar Tier III claycourt event, was upset by Michaella Krajicek 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Sania and her Australian team mate Alicia Molik, however, have reached the double's semifinal in Istanbul.
Sania made history in the last year's edition of the French Open by becoming the first Indian woman to get a direct entry into a Grand Slam.
She, however, could not make much of an impression and was handed a 3-6, 3-6 defeat in the very first round by Argentine Gisela Dulko.
