Randhawa off to sedate start, Jeev fumbles in PGA Championship
Virginia Water, England, May 26 (UNI) Jyoti Randhawa had a decent opening round of 71 that earned him a share of the 32nd spot but compatriot Jeev Milkha Singh will have to raise his game by a few notches to make the cut after a round of 73 in the BMW PGA Championship.
Jyoti, the highest ranked Indian golfer, overcame a trio of bogeys and sank two birdies and one eagle -- on the par-five, 212 yard fourth hole -- on the card for a decent outing which placed him tied 32nd, along with Thai star Thaworn Wiratchant, who had an identical round at Wentworth Club.
On the other hand, Jeev, last month's Volvo China Open champion, reeled off a string of nine par shots to complete his halfway journey before an eventful back nine featuring two double bogeys -- on the 10th and 17th -- and three birdies squeezed in between.
The English trio of Paul Casey, Luke Donald, Nick Dougherty and South African Andrew McLardy share the lead with 67s after the opening day of the European Tour's flagship event.
