Netaji's family demands acceptance of Mukherjee Com's report

Kolkata, May 26 (UNI) Family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose today took strong exception to the Centre's rejection of Justice Manoj Kumar Mukherjee Commission report and sought ''full explanation'' from the government in this regard.

Addressing newsmen here, Netaji's nephew and Forward Bloc MP Subrata Bose termed as ''totally unjustified'' and against the sentiments of millions of Indians the government action and demanded immediate acceptance of the Inquiry Commissions report.

He also demanded that the Union government should immediately stop recognising the ashes in Renkoji temple near Tokyo as that of Netaji's and stop giving all financial aid to the temple authorities forthwith.

''We also demand that the government take renewed initiative to convince the UK government to release all files related to the disappearance of Netaji from their possession at the earliest and not after 2020 as they have promised in accordance with the country's Official Secret Acts,'' Mr Bose, speaking on behalf of 44 other direct descendants, including nieces, sister-in-laws, grand nephews and grand nieces, said.

He also asked the UPA government to take up with its Russian counterpart the release of all KGB files related to Netaji in several Russian government archives to throw further light on the mysterious disapprearance of Netaji after the alleged plane crash at Taihoku airpot in Taiwan on August 18, 1945.

The Commission, as well as the family members had enough evidence that Netaji was seen in Siberian Russia even far beyond 1945, Mr Bose claimed and reiterated his family's demand for acceptance of the report to help open a new chapter in the Indian history with great international relevance.

Regretting the role of the Congress and some other political parties, including some members of the former NDA regime, in trying to suppress the facts about Netaji and rejecting the report, Mr Bose and other family members also ridiculed the role of Ms Krishna Bose and her son Sugata Bose in welcoming the government stand instead of summarily rejecting it.
