Medical services paralysed as strike continues
Chandigarh, May 26 (UNI) Medical services in most of the government and private medical colleges in Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh re,aomed [ara;used fpr tje 12tj day today as resident doctors and medical students continued with their stir against 27 per cent reservation for the OBCs in institutions of higher education.
At PGIMER here protesting resident doctors organised a blood donation camp, suspended parallel OPDs and gave a call for Chandigarh bandh on May 30. The resident doctors and medical students of Government Medical College and Hospital blocked the road in protest.
In Amritsar, medical services were affected at Guru Nanak Hospital, SGPC run Guru Ram Dass Institute of Medical Services and Research following the strike by residents doctors and students.
Meanwhile, pro-reservationists burnt BJP Member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu in effigy for his anti-quota stand.
Medical services at Dayananad Medical College (DMC), Lord Mahavira Homeopathy Institute and Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College in Ludhiana were badly affected as strike by medical students and resident doctors continued.
However, Christian Medical College (CMC) continued to function normally.
Medical services at PGIMS, Rohtak were hit as resident doctors and medical students continued with their strike and blocked the roads at two places on the National Highway number 10 and at Bohar on Sonipat-Rohtak roads with the help of local villagers.
In Patiala, the OPD services were hit as medical students, interns and junior doctors of Government Medical College, Government Ayurvedic College, Government Dental College and Government Rajindra Hospital continued with their anti-quota stir.
