Jt Secy among beneficiary of Job Guarantee Scheme: Ramesh
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The ''Job Card,'' which makes its holder eligible to get work under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme(NREGS), has been issued to many persons living much above the poverty line in many States, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh today said. Speaking at the Convention of DCC Presidents held here to review the progress of the NREGS, he said a Joint Secretary to a state government has managed to get Job Card under the employment guarantee scheme. Among the recipients of this card are also many Government employees.
How these people managed to get the Job Card should be a subject of investigation, he said.
The Union Minister also revealed that statistics of jobs provided under the scheme furnished by many states including Bihar, MP, and Orissa are wrong.
He felt an agitation should be launched against States not implementing the NREGS properly and called for vigilance by the Congress workers to see that the scheme is properly implemented.
