Japanese Govt confers 'Order of Rising Sun' to Dr Mitra

New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Secretary General Amit Mitra was today conferred with the 'Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon' by the Government of Japan.

The decoration is in recogintion of his outstanding contribution to the promotion of friendly relations between Japan and India.

''I am very delighted and honoured to confer the decoration to Dr Mitra for his efforts in building friendly relations between our two countries. As Secretary General of FICCI, he has been playing a great role in strengthening ties between Japanese and Indian business communities through initiating and organising numerous meetings and various events,'' Japanese Ambassador to India Yasukuni Enoki said.

''It is a great honour and I am deeply honoured to receive this award. This award does not go to me, it goes to FICCI, which served as the platform for the relation between India and Japan,'' Dr Mitra said.
