General people welcome working groups, youths said nothing for them
Srinagar, May 26 (UNI) People here, in general have welcomed the setting up working committees to address various issues confronting the people of the trouble torn state, while unemployed youths complained there was hardly anything for them in the Prime Minister announcement.
It was expected that nothing concrete will emerge with regard to the issue of Kashmir after almost all the separatist organisations, including both the factions of the Hurriyat Confernence (HC) stayed away from the two-day 2nd Round Table conference held here on May 24-25 with Prime Minister in the chair, most people said, adding the centre cannot resolve the Kashmir issue by talking to the leaders who have already accepted the Jammu and Kashmir's accession with India as final.
It is now useless to debate on why the separatists stayed away as the conference is over, said Abdul Rauf, a civil engineer, said.
However, he commended Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for keeping the doors open for anyone who was willing to talk on all issues, including Kashmir.
He said the Kashmir issue, which everyone believes was a political issue, can be resolved only by sitting across the table without imposing any condition.
Mr Rauf, however, said the centre should called the leaders from the separatist parties first to listen to them before holding separate talks with the mainstream leaders.
Ghulam Mohiuddin, a contractor by profession, said setting up of five different working committees to address different issues was a step towards right direction.
However, he said, the committees should start the work without wasting any more time.
