Deepak Fertilisers forays into const products sector
New Delhi, May 26: Deepak Fertilsers and Petrochemicals Ltd. (DFPL) is diversifying into the construction products sector by setting up India's first International Design Centre and Specialty Mall to make available the interiors and exteriors products and services' requirement of the building industry.
A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed here between the Confederation of Construction Products and Services (CCPS) and Ishanya, a division of the Deepak Fertilisers.
The MoU was signed by Mr Shrikant Somany, MD Somany Tiles Ltd. on behalf of CCPS and Mr I S Narula, CEO and President, Ishanya.
A jointly promoted and managed Training and Development Centre -- the Ishanya-CCPS Training and Development Centre -- located at Ishanya spread over 10 acres of land, in Pune will be operational by October this year.
The Rs 140-crore Centre wholly-financed by Ishanya will create not just training facilities for all associated with the interiors and exteriors, but will, establish standards that mean quality assurance and excellence for workmanship in the industry.
''The Ishanya-CCPS certification for craftsmen should be virtually a quality assurance that will greatly benefit all home and office owners. The Ishanya-CCPS partnership will bring trained and certified craftsmen into the field,'' Mr Narula said while signing the MoU here yesterday.
Mr Somany said that ''this partnership will enable consumers and construction industry to use new materials and technologies effectively bridging the gap between technology and its actual on-site application.'' CCPS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the sustainable growth of construction products sector by working effectively with its members and others to improve quality and efficiency in construction.
CCPS also announced the launch of its Doors and Windows standardisation initiative on the occasion.
The standardisation initiative is projected to convey greater standardisation in sizes of doors and windows and associated elements which will reduce wastage, bring economies of scale and improve quality. Standardisation of doors and windows sizes will just be a beginning towards modular construction.
