Bodies of blast victims brought to Surat; thousands pay homage

Surat, May 26 (UNI) Thousands of people today paid homage to the victims of yesterday's grenade attack in Zakoora in Kashmir.

The bodies of the victims were brought here by a special flight from Srinagar to Vadodara and were taken from there to Surat by special ambulances.

Thousands of people gathered near the houses of the bereaved families since afternoon. The ambulances carrying the bodies arrived here at 1740 hrs.

Even distant neighbours found it dificult to suppress their emotions when the coffins were opened.

Four members of two families residing in Rustumpura and Salabatpura died after the bus in which they were travelling to Kashmir as tourists, was attacked with grenades.

Those who died have been identified as Fenal Himat Jariwala (5), Krishna Rajesh Jariwala (16), both residng in Maleshwari street in Rustumpur, Kushboo Narender Jariwala (16) and Robin Rakesh Jariwala (8) residing in Damalwad in Salabatpura.

The bodies will be placed in Salabatpura for the public to pay homage and will be cremated on the banks of Tapi, relatives of the victims said.

Apart from the bodies of the victims, six injured were also brought to Surat.

The injured are Bhopali (30), Shiv Bipan Kumar (8), Ratnesh Jariwala (30), Herman (30), Mural Lan and Himat Jariwala (30).

Additional district collector A M Mewada said that the injured will be given special medical treatment at the New Civil Hospital.
