Aajtak group to launch Delhi/NCR focussed channel on May 29
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The resounding success of regional TV news channels has prompted the TV Today network to make a foray into this field with the launch of a new 24-hour news channel focussing on Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The channel has been named 'Dilli Aaj Tak' will go on air from May 29. It is the fourth channel of the TV Today Network.
Announcing the launch of the channel, Chairman and Managing Director of the TV Today Aroon Purie said, ''the news space has seen an exponential increase in the number of players and we are committed to provide a credible source of information people are looking for.'' CEO G Krishnan said the decision to enter regional space was taken after the Network consolidated its position of being India's foremost news network through its three news channels -- the flagship channel Aaj Tak, English news channel Headlines Today and Tez, the channel in a headline format.
He said Delhi's rising consumerism, booming economy and rapidly improving infrastructure, among other things, have made it a city to reckon with at a global scale, and the need exists for a channel that can cover life in capital in the depth.
