78 people injured in gas cylinder blast, in Mumbai
Mumbai, May 26 (UNI) Seventy-eight people including women and children, suffered burn injuries, six of them seriously, when a cooking gas cylinder burst at Antop Hill post office area in south central Mumbai this morning.
Fire brigade sources said a total of 78 people were injured, of which the six people suffered more than 70 per cent burns.
The critically injured have been identified as Arun Panda, 30, Taj Wadkar, 31, Balkrishan Narayan, 28, Adnam Muzawar, 40, Anish Rajmera, 35 and Linga Rajan, 23.
According to the eyewitnesses, at about 0800 hrs, a cooking gas cylinder began leaking in the house of one Lau Vithal Niwasare at Shiv Nagar Zopadpatti. He immediately brought the cylinder out of his house which however, caught fire and exploded.
The injured have been admitted to KEM, Sion and Kasturba hospitals, sources added.
