2252 commercial units desealed in Delhi, total 6357 desealed
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The desealing operation by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which began on Tuesday following the notification of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Bill 2006, picked up pace today with the MCD removing seals of 2252 shops today.
The maximum number of 1211 shops were desealed in the Central zone, 304 in Najafgarh, 241 in Rohini, 178 in Shahdara (South) and 96 in west zone.
With today's operations, the MCD has desealed a total of 6357 shops in Delhi. The desealing process has already been completed in the city zone and Sadar Paharganj.
The desealing of the commercial units comes following the notification of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Bill 2006 which places a one-year moratorium, effective from January 1, 2006, on the demolition and sealing drives undertaken at the instance of orders of the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court respectively.
Leader of the House in the MCD Jitender Kochar yesterday said the coming days would witness a speeding up of the desealing process so as to provide relief to all the traders and common man in Delhi at the soonest.
''Our endeavour will be to ensure that the desealing process is completed within the next two to three days so that the people of Delhi are able to get relief,''Mr Kochar said.
