Rastogi, Shokeen in the semi-finals of ITF Tennis tournament
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Karan Rastogi and Vivek Shokeen sailed into the semi-finals of the ITF India F1 Futures Men's Tennis tournament with hard-earned victories against their opponents here today.
Seeded third in the tournament, Rastogi came out unscathed in a see-saw three-setter to score a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 win over Ishii Yaoki of Japan in the quarter-finals. Rastogi will play in the last four top seed Henry Adjel-Darko of Ghana who beat seventh seed India's Sunil Kumar Sipaeya 6-4, 7-5.
In other quarter-final match, India's Vivek Shokeen, who upset compatriot Vishal Uppal yesterday, came from behind to get the better of Pakistani qualifier Aqeel Khan 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Shokeen will face fourth seeded American Nick Monroe, who struggled to beat unseeded Dmitri Makeyav of Kazakhstan 0-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the semi-finals tomorrow.
In the doubles semi-finals, fourth seeded Indo-Ghanaian pair of Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Adjel-Darko scored an upset victory over top seeded Alexey Kedriouk (Kazakhstan) and Murad Inoyatov (Uzbekistan) to set up a title clash with third seeded Indian duo of Mustafa Ghouse and Kamala Kannan who beat compatriots Vinod Sridhar and Vishal Uppal 7-5, 6-4.
