PM deplores BJP's ban on Aamir Khan starrer 'Fanaa' in Gujarat

Srinagar, May 25 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today condemned the ban imposed by the BJP on the screening of Aamir Khan's forthcoming film 'Fanaa' in Gujarat, saying artistes have every right to express their views in a democratic manner in our society.

'' I stongly condemn unconstitutional methods adopted by some people to supress the freedom of expression,'' Dr Singh said at a news conference.

His remarks came when pointed out the BJP has imposed a ban on the screening of Yash Chopra's film in Gujarat over its lead actor Aamir Khan's support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan(NBA).

Aamir Khan had joined the NBA activists at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi recently, demanding rehabilitation of the families affected by the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
