Mulayam to launch unemployment allowance prog on June 16

Lucknow, May 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today announced to launch the much-hyped programme of unemployment allowance - to be given to unemployed graduates and above - from June 16.

Addressing a conference of Samajwadi Party Zila Panchayat members and block pramukhs here, Mr Yadav said unemployed youth of Lucknow division would be handed over unemployment allowance for the month of Apri-May 2006 on June 16.

Criticising the Congress for not giving central aid for the programme, the Chief Minister claimed it was the commitment of his government to give unemployment allowance, which was being fulfilled.

Unemployed youth would get an allowance of Rs 500 per month from April 2006, who were registered with the employment exchanges before February 28 last.

Meanwhile, Mr Yadav announced to give 10 handpumps to each Zila Panchayat member and 50 handpumps to each block pramukh.

Similarly, panchayat members can recommend one village for comprehensive development and pramukhs can name 10 villages.
