Mulayam smells conspiracy against his govt over Muslims' welfare
Lucknow, May 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today alleged that his government, under a conspiracy, was being defamed that it had done nothing for the welfare of Muslims during its two-year rule.
'' The SP government has made a record of sorts by giving several sops to the community, including appointment of Muslims to the post of advocate general and chairmanship of the subordinate commission and member in the state public service commission,'' Mr Yadav claimed.
Addressing a conference of the SP zila panchayat members and block pramukhs here, he asserted that the ''misinformation tirade'' against his regime should be taken care of by the party activities.
''People should know the reality.'' He said his government cared for Muslims and gave no importance to the criticism received for its ''attachment with the community''.
''Soon 5,000 Urdu teachers will be appointed.'' The CM also announced compensation to the affected Muslim families, whose houses were burnt during arson in Ghaziabad yesterday.
Calling upon SP cadres to be in poll mode and apprise public of the ''pro-people'' approach of his government in view of the coming assembly polls, Mr Yadav said UP's scenario would change, if the SP returned to power with a two-thirds majority.
On the hue and cry over the UP law and order situation, he asserted the dacoits, patronised by the previous BJP-BSP-Congress governments, had been eliminated. ''It is unfortunate that the mafias, who have been thrown out of SP, were deemed as 'devta' in other parties.'' Mr Yadav also criticised the Congress for excluding the post of chairperson, UP Film Development Corporation (UPFDC), from the list of offices of profit in the bill passed by Parliament recently.
''The move was politically motivated against the Bachchan family,'' he alleged. Jaya Bachchan had yesterday resigned as UPFDC chairperson. She is likely to contest the Rajya Sabha election from UP.
