Militants made abortive bid to disrupt power supply to Kashmir
Srinagar, May 25 (UNI) Suspected militants made an unsuccessful attempt to disrupt the power supply to Kashmir valley as they tried to blast a leg of 220 KV transmission tower in South Kashmir today.
The sources said suspected militants had planted three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) near the legs of 220 KV transmission line at Larnoo, Awantipora, about 30 from here in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Sources said one of the IED went off causing damage to one leg.
However, the other two IEDs were later defused by the bomb disposal squad.
Power transmission was not affected.
They said had the two IEDs not been detected and defused, it would have caused much damage to the tower.
