Kunal Kohli positive of 'Fanaa' screening in multiplexes

Mumbai, May 25 (UNI) Even as multiplexes like PVR, Cinemax and Wave have reportedly relented to Yashraj Film's demand on the issue of 'Fanna', film's director Kunal Kohli has expressed optimism that his venture would be released in other multiplexes also.

Kohli told UNI that, ''Yes, 'Fanaa' will be shown in PVR, Cinemax, Wave, Fame and Adlabs. It will be shown in other theatres, too. I am not aware of the hike in amount, but talks were fine.'' However, the confirmation from the multiplexes like Inox and others was yet to be received as the officials have refused to comment on their stand so far.

Meanwhile, PVR spokesman Ashish Saxena said they have come to know that Cinemax and Wave multiplexes would release the Aamir Khan and Kajol starrer 'Fanaa' tomorrow, but he did not confirm whether PVR would also be screening the movie.

He, however, said negotiations are still going on and expressed that Yashraj Films has ''not asked for more money,'' but a ''better deal,'' which, according to him is fine. He also said, this controversy is going to be a lesson for the multiplexes who will learn to do business better, as this kind of a situation has never originated before.

However, Mumbai's prestigious Metro Cinema spokesman Nesdon D'Souza said, ''It is just a rumour that 'Fanaa' will be released in PVR, Cinemax and Wave. Anyways, the decision will be out soon, though this dispute will affect business worth Rs 5-6 crore on both sides.'' ''The business will particularly be affected in small places like Gurgaon and Mangalore,'' he added.

On the other side, trade analyst Pappu Shah said the Yashraj Films has already released 650 prints of the movie throughout the country and expressed that the multiplex owners ''will compromise'' to the production house demand, as ''everyone wants to watch an Aamir Khan film.'' ''Talks are still on. Yashraj Films has laid some terms. To put it honestly, we will definitely not pay Rs 150 for a ticket to see a second-grade actor. It is obvious we will pay that amount to see Aamir Khan. So multiplexes will compromise, what else will they do?'' he pointed out.
