Jewellery and cash worth Rs 31 lakh robbed

Mumbai, May 25 (UNI) Seven unidentified miscreants allegedly robbed gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 31.47 lakh from a shop at T K Road, Sewri in South Central Mumbai this morning.

According to complainant Motilal Mehta, owner of the Mehta jewellery shop, the incident happened at around 0700 hrs when he and his son opened the shop. Seven unidentified people carrying weapons followed them, police said.

One of the miscreants snatched the keys from them locker and took away jewellery worth Rs 31.30 lakh and Rs 17,000 cash. They later fled in a jeep.

Police has registered a cash of robbery while further investigations are in progress.
