Hot weather conditions return in north-east region
Chandigarh, May 24 (UNI) Hot weather conditions returned in north-west India today following further rise in the mercury touching 43 degrees Celsius at Hissar, turning it the hottest place in the state.
However, the maximum temperature hovered below normal at various places in Haryana and Punjab.
In Punjab, Ludhiana was the hottest place recording 42.0 degrees celsius, followed by Amritsar registering 41.9 degrees and Patiala 40.7 degrees celsius. In Haryana, Ambala showed 38.4 degrees against 37.8 degrees celsius recorded yesterday.
The temperature also rose in Himachal Pradesh with state capital Shimla recording 25.8 degrees, two degrees above normal. Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded 35 degrees, four degrees above normal while Sundernagar in Mandi district registered 34.4 degrees. The mercury settled at 25.0 degrees at Kalpa.
The temperature remained almost static at Chandigarh recording 37.8 degrees, one degree below normal.

The weather office has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Himachal Pradesh and duststorm or thunderstorm with light to moderate rain at few places in Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
Hailstorm or thundersquall with wind speed exceeding 65 km per hour is likely to occur at isolated places in the region during the period.
