European Parliamentarians appreciates APs steps against child labour
Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) A five-member delegation of the European Parliament today called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The delegation led by promisias derossa appreciated the Chief Minister for introducing innovative programmes to curtail child labour and encourage them to take up studies.
Mr De Rossa, an Irish member of the European parliament, visited the programmes on the ''Abolition of Child Labour and Universalisation of Elementary Education in Andhra Pradesh'' and the ''Stop Child Labour-School is the best place to work'' campaign being implemented by the MV foundation and the state government.
Mr De Rossa, has been a long time advocate of abolition of all forms of child labour and imparting education to all Children.
The Chief Minister informed Mr De Rossa about various government initiatines like ''Badi Baata'' and compulsory education to all children.
The delegation earlier visited M V Foundation's programme in the Ranga Reddy district that had received a grant from European Union and the Programme under the International Labour Organisation - APSBP in Kurnool.
