Another day of sultry weather, temperature rises to 40 Deg C
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Sultry weather with temperature rising to 40 degrees C made Delhiites perspire for the second day today.
The maximum temperature rose to 40 degrees C while the minimum shot up to 25 degrees C, from just 20 degrees C yesterday.
According to weathermen, the sultry weather in the capital was largely due to a waning of the influence of an upper air cyclonic storm which had brought down the temperature substantialy on Friday.
Pleasant weather has been prevailing in the capital for the past one week, a trend attributed to the upper air cyclonic movement originating from Rajasthan.
Though the temperature of 40 degrees C is still one degree below normal, the significant rise in mercury is neverthless indicative of a possibility of a return to scorching weather conditions.
The sultry conditions are likely to prevail in the coming days.
Though the met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain and thundershowers accompanied by squalls in some areas during the next 24 hours, the maximum temperature would remain at 40 degrees C tomorrow.
