Alert sounded in view of Maoist' economic blockade
Patna, May 25 (UNI) The Bihar government today sounded high alert in view of call for economic blockade by the CPI(Maoists) for three days in six states, including Bihar, beginning tomorrow.
Maoists had planned to paralyse movement of goods carrying vehicles and freight trains during the 72-hour period of economic blockade.
Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Anil Kumar Sinha said high alert had been sounded in view of Maoist' call, while Police Superintendents of all districts had been directed to take steps for the protection of railway tracks and other public property from the disruptive forces.
Strict vigil would be maintained to check the extremist activities in the state in the naxalism-affected areas, ''he added.
Meanwhile, according to reports from Hajipur, East Central Railway had directed its officials and Rail Police Superintendents to take suitable steps for the safety of tracks and rail property and ensure smooth movement of trains.
The Maoists had given a call to put up economic blockade in six states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhatishgarh, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh.
