2 children among 3 tourists from Gujarat killed, 6 wounded
Srinagar, May 25 (UNI) Two children and a woman tourists from Gujarat were killed and six others injured, four of them critically, in a grenade blast on the outskirts here this afternoon.
Official sources said unidentified militants hurled a hand grenade towards a tourists bus at Botakadal near Hazratbal, about 12 km from here this afternoon.
The grenade exploded near the bus killing three people including two children and injuring seven others.
The injured were immediately shifted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura where one woman tourist was declared brought dead.
A doctor attending to the injured said the condition of four was critical.
She said four of the injured were being operated upon.
Official sources said the tourists were on way to Mughal garden Harwan via Hazratbal as the main Boulvard road was closed for security reasons in view of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's two-day visit to valley for chairing the roundtable conference.
This was the second incident in which tourists were involved. On May 23, a tourist from Madhya Pradesh was killed and four others were injured in a similar grenade blast near Soura.
The tourists were on way to Srinagar from the tourist resort of Sonmarg.
