Youth denied bail for distributing lists of sex racket in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) A local court here has rejected the bail application of a youth, involved in distributing lists with names of girls allegedly involved in the recently exposed sex racket in which names of some senior politicians, security force and police officers figured.
The youth Tariq Ahmad, a resident of Buchwara, was arrested by police last week for allegedly distributing the lists.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Yousuf Akhoon rejected the bail of Tariq for distributing the lists and blackmailing people.
Mr Akhoon later referred the case to the Division Bench of the High Court in contempt of court case as on May 15 the Bench had issued an order, warning all those people who were distributing lists of people allegedly involved in the sex racket.
The bench had directed the authorities to prosecute any person found ivolved in distributing the lists Police said Tariq was arrested from a shop with four objectionable posters.
The accused had filed bail application through his counsel pleading that he was not involved in any unlawful activity.
However, Prosecution Office resisted grant of bail to the accused arguing that Tariq was involved in anti-social and non-bailable offences.
Hundreds of posters were distributed in Srinagar and other areas with names of girls and other people allegedly involved in the recently exposed sex racket in the valley.
