Vieira and family gassed and robbed in South France

Paris, May 24: French midfielder Patrick Vieria and his family members were gassed as robbers fled away with jewels from the Juventus player's French Riviera villa.

Police here are searching for the robbers who stole the jewellery and then fled in Vieria's Mercedes which was later found abandoned in Nice.

According to Police authorities, gas was pumped into the air conditioning system to keep asleep the player, wife Cheryl and their daughter Cheries.

Both the mother and daugter are recovering at home.

Vieira has returned to training with the France World Cup squad following a health check.
