Rastogi, Shokeen in the Q-finals of India F1 Futures Tennis

New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) Karan Rastogi, Vivek Shokeen and Sunil Kumar Sipaeya sailed into the quarter finals of the India F1 Futures Tennis tournament with emphatic victories against their opponents here today.

Seeded third in the tournament, Rastogi had not to sweat out much to score a 6-1, 6-4 win over Amir Weintraub of Isreal in the second round match. Rastogi will meet in the last eight Ishi Yaoki of Japan, who had a tough time to get past Aditya Madkekar of India 6-3, 6-7, 6-2.

In other second round match, seventh seed India's Sunil Kumar Sipaeya had an easy outing against qualifier Vijay Paul of the US to chalk out a 6-3, 6-1 win and set up quarter-final clash against top seed Henry Adjel-Darko of Ghana. Henry got the better of India's Mustafa Ghouse 7-5, 6-2.

However, eight seed India's Vinod Sridhar lost to unseeded Dmitri Makeyav of Kazakhstan 7-5, 6-1. Makeyav will meet fourth seed Nick Monroe in the quater-finals.

In another upset of the day, India's Vivek Shokeen outplayed sixth seeded compatriot Vishal Uppal 6-1, 6-1. Shokeen faces Pakistani qualifier Aqeel Khan, who beat India's Srirambalaji Narayanswa 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, in the last eight.

In the doubles, top seeded pair of Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakhstan and Murad Inoyatov of Uzbekistan beat Indian pair of Tushar Liberhan and Navdeep Singh 6-2, 6-2 and in the semi finals tomorrow they will meet fourth seeded pair of Adjel-Darko and Sipaeya who beat wild card Indian duo of Rishi Behl and Saurabh Singh 6-4, 6-4.

The second semi-final will be an all Indian affair. Third seeded Mustafa Ghouse and Kamala Kannan barely get past Nitin Kirtane and Tai Wei Liu of Taipei 7-6 (5), 7-5 to meet second seed duo of Sridhar and Uppal who beat Divji Sharan and Shokeen pair 6-1, 6-1.
