Pakistani youth to be deportated by UP police
Lucknow, may 24 (UNI) A Pakistani national, who has been languishing in police custody here for the last eight months for the want of necessary documents for deportation, is likely to be sent to his native place in Karachi later this month.
Resident of Karachi, Mohammad Shariff was earlier deported from Saudi Arabia seven years back for holding fake Indian passport after serving a two-year jail term in Jeddah.
The 22-year-old when failed to produce documents to prove his identity was jailed here for six years, before being handed over to Kakori police station of the district in October 2005 for deportation to Pakistan.
Police sources said here today that all relevant documents, including his birth certificate, have been sent by the Pakistan government recently.
''A team of the district police and Local Intelligence Unit(LIU) would take Shariff to the External Affairs Ministry this week for conselling before being handed over to the Pakistan Embassy'', a senior police officer said.
Earlier in January last all efforts to send Shariff back to Pakistan went in vain as the External Affairs Ministry and the Home Ministry refused to entertain his requisite application.
Shariff who has already spent the best years of his youth in the dark corridors of jail, has now been disowned by his parents in Pakistan, who say their son is no more alive.
Meanwhile, Shariff told UNI here today that he was eager to go back to his native place which he had left ten years back.
Narrating his story, the youth said that his step brother took him to Saudi Arabia in 1995. But after reaching Jeddah, the brother accused him of raping his wife.
''A lower court in Saudi Arabia even awarded me capital punishment in the case, but later it was changed in to two year imprisonment,'' he said, adding, that his brother also secured a fake Indian Passport in his name.
Later after going through a harrowing time in Saudi Arabia, he was deported to Mumbai in 1999 from where he came to Lucknow in search of some of his far flung relatives. But here also when he went to Chowk police station, he was sent to jail in connection with the fake passport case.
After six years in a Lucknow Jail, Shariff is trying to go to Karachi to meet his near and dear ones.
