New IT policy for Tamil Nadu: Governor
Chennai, May 24 : The Tamil Nadu Government would come out with a new policy to encourage Information Technology (IT) sector in the state, Governor S S Barnala announced in the Assembly today.
Delivering his customary address to the newly constituted 13th Assembly session, he said considering the growth and multiple dimensions of the IT sector, a new policy would be framed to encourage the sector to increase software production, exports and employment.
He asserted the new government would be easily accessible to investors and function as their ally, providing all facilities to them for establishing industries.
In order to encourage the small scale sector, which had tremendous employment generation potential, the scheme of providing capital subsidy assistance to these industries, established in industrially backward areas, would be revived.
The government would accord high priority for the upkeep of road network and focus on upgrading infrastructure facilities in rural areas.
While ensuring adequate maintenance, the government would make the required investment in widening and upgrading the high-density road corridors in the state, he said.
The government would also endeavour to provide link roads to all rural habitations with a population of 500 or above and fit sodium vapour lamps at central locations in villages where people normally gather, he said.
