INLD protests to save Chautala's 'ill-gotten' money: CPS

Chandigarh, May 24 (UNI) Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Dharambir Singh today alleged that Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) was making a hue and cry over the CBI inquriy against party supremo Om Prakash Chautala to ''somehow save the ill-gotten wealth'' acquired by him during his tenure as Chief Minister.

''It's a desparate attempt to somehow save their ill-gotten wealth by seeking to put pressure on the CBI through the so called protest rallies in the state,'' Mr Singh said while talking to reporters here.

He alleged that only those people were participating in these rallies who had been ''in collusion with the Chautala family in looting the state exchequer.'' The CPS also accused the INLD of having set up ''goonda dens'' across the state during Chautala regime to carry out their ''shady activities.'' He said INLD general secreatry and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Singh Chautala had even threatened to ''take to task'' the Congress leaders who made allegations against their family.

''If they are innocent, they should have welcomed the CBI probe.

If they claim that they are the genuine owners of this immense wealth, they should have paid the income tax on it,'' he said.

The Hooda government, he said, preferred a CBI probe instead of a state vigilance probe into the matter so that motives of political vendetta could not be imputed to the government.

The CPS alleged that the Chautala family had a property worth over Rs 14 crore in Bhiwani and several other such properties which were not accounted for in the CBI case.
