English fans pose as Ponting fans to get ashes tickets

Sydney, May 24 (UNI) After being denied first access to Ashes tickets in Australia, desperate England supporters have resorted to posing as Ricky Ponting fans to grab the tickets for the series starting November 23 in Brisbane.

An Australian Associated Press report (AAP) quoting Cricket Australia (CA) spokesman said English fans based in Australia might have ben able to break their way in to the online ticketing system, which was designed to give priority to the Aussie fans.

However, the CA spokesman said the minor break-in is not something to be concerned about.

''Look, the system we've designed, the experts say there is going to be some leakage and we're not particularly worried about that,'' Young was quoted as saying ''There will be some leakage but we're confident that most people buying tickets on June 1 will be the mums and dads of Australia buying for themselves and their two kids,'' he said, referring to the CA Family initiative, which will provide priority access to members of the group until June 18 before the tickets go on general sale.

Mr Young said the series promises to be a huge hit and he was expecting huge crowds for the opening Boxing Day Test.

''It's going to be the biggest summer in Australian cricket history,'' he said.

''We've got our fingers crossed. Some people are daring to whisper that it could be a world record, which was 90,800 - Australia v West Indies at the MCG in the 1960-61 series,'' he added.
