Cottons by Century arives in Eastern India,launches new products
Kolkata, May 24 (UNI) "Cottons by Century", a wholly owned subsidiary of Century Textiles of B K Birla group,today launched its own branded premium menswear apparels in Eastern India in a number of exclusive multi-brand outlets in the city and other parts of the region to make forays into the fast expanding retail maket.
Announcing the formal launch of "Cottons by Century"branded shirts,T-shirts,trousers and kurta-pyjamas along with their wide range of accesories,C by C Business Head (India)Subrata Siddhanta said to begin with they had opened two mega retail stores in here before introducing similar outlets in Bhubaneswar, Patna, Guwahati, Siliguri, Shillong and Jamshedpur within the next one month.
"We are planning to do business at least to the tune of Rs four crores from Eastern India in the very first year",said Mr Siddhanta adding that last year the total sales of C by C products elsewhere in the country was to the tune of Rs 25 crores.
"Maintaining similar trend we have targetted to reach Rs 50 crore mark in all India sales before March 31,2007, recording 100 per cent jump from last year," Mr Siddhanta emphasised.
He said though C by C products were available in 46 retail stores across the country,including 16 in the North and 15 each Southern and Western India,they had decided to open at least 60 morer such mega shops,including 12 in Eastern India,this year 'to reach out to more people across the country'.
Of the 12 new shops five would come up in West Bengal and the rest in Orissa, Jharkhand,Assam and in the Northeast, Mr Siddhanta announced.
He said in spite of the stupendous growth in demand for branded readymade garments in India over the past few years,they had no immediate plan to enter into womenswear businees."We are also not planning to enter into the export market either,"he said replying to another query.
The size of total readymade menswear market in India stood at over Rs 23,000 crores, he said and hoped to capture at least five per cent within the next three to five years.
