CM announces Rs 2.5 lakh grant for dead journalist's family

Chandigarh, May 24 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singht today sanctioned a grant of Rs 2.5 lakh for the family of the departed senior journalist Sarvmeet Singh, who died last week.

The chief minister's media advisor B I S Chahal today called on Ms Davinder Davi, Sarvmeet Singh's wife and herself a journalist in Punjabi Tribune, and expressed his heartfelt condolences.

Mr Chahal also announced a grant of Rs 2.5 lakh on behalf of the Punjab Chief Minister.

He said that the chief minister was deeply concerned for the welfare of Mr Sarvmeet Singh's family as he was an outstanding journalist with the qualities of head and heart who preformed his professional duties with utmost dedication, commitment and sincerity. He assured all support and cooperation to the bereaved family in the future.

Mr Chahal was accompanied by some journalists of the city.
