Chouhan assures power subsidy for ryots
Bhind, MP, May 24 (UNI) Reiterating that peasants would not have to bear the burden of high power tariff, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said his regime was providing a Rs 510-crore subsidy for the purpose.
''Roads, power and water are among the government's priority goals. Until now, 17,000 km roads have been laid and 40,000 km will be built. Pending water supply schemes will soon be completed,'' he told mediapersons in a chat here after offering prayers at Rawatpura Dham.
Pointing out that sluice gates were already in place at the Bansagar-Omkareshwar Project, the chief minister said they would aid in irrigating 47,000 hectares.
''Power generation will begin from the Chachai, Manikheda and Bansagar-Omkareshwar projects by June 2007,'' he assured.
