Supreme Court grants bail to MCD Engineer

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The Supreme Court today granted bail to an MCD junior engineer sentenced to one month simple imprisonment by Delhi High Court for contempt of court.

Petitioner R S Sherawat was convicted for filing false affidavit in respect to illegal constructions in Sainik farm houses in Mehrauli area.

A vacation bench comprising Mr. Justice Arijit Pasayat and Mr.

Justive R V Raveendran while admitting the appeal of the petitioner directed that the petitioner be released on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 30,000 and surety of the same amount to the satisfaction of the magistrate, Patiala house courts, New Delhi.

The Supreme Court granted him bail after Sherawat surrendered before the police as per the directions of the court issued on Friday last.

Two engineers the petitioner and one Chauhan were convicted by Delhi High Court.
