Sunni Central Waqf Board charges 3 members with corruption
Lucknow, May 23 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board chairman Hafiz Mohd Usman today charged some Board members including a ruling Samajwadi Party MLA with indulging in corrupt practises by selling waqf properties.
''The members -- Riyaz Ahmed (SP-MLA), Abdul Razzak and Mahboob Ahmed -- have been found involved in several cases of corruption in the Board. They are levelling wild charges against me and state urban development minister Mohd Azam Khan to cover up the issue,'' he said.
Giving details of the corrupt practises of these members at a news conference here, Mr Usman said he had asked the higher-ups in the government to take action against them.
He also alleged Riyaz was trying to tarnish the image of chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav by blaming Mr Khan.
Mr Usman said during his regime since 2004, not a single waqf land or property had been sold.
Earlier on Sunday, the three members had alleged that Usman and the state minister were selling prime waqf land and minting money with illegal ways.
